University Crusader Seniors Say Goodbye: Laniaya Hoofatt
Issue date: 5/1/09 Section: Features
|
There was no obligation for me to be on the Crusader; there has always been love and dedication for journalism. I started with the paper as a staff writer and moved up through the ranks as senior staff writer, assistant editor, web editor and managing editor for a semester. With each semester and article I wrote I developed skills that I will be able to use for the rest of my life.
I really enjoy writing articles about subjects that I am passionate about, but collaborating, sharing ideas and being willing to have people I trust take my words and make them better makes me a good journalist. Being critiqued by Michael Metts on my performance at the paper and working with seniors Aaron Mueller and Michael Stinson during my years at the paper have helped fuel my desire to be a journalist.
I like to stand out as an individual when I write, but I loved being a part of the bigger picture when it came to the Crusader. I worked with a dedicated staff that willed themselves to give you a paper one issue at a time.
Positions held: Staff writer, Senior Staff Writer, Assistant Editor, Web Editor
