University Crusader Seniors Say Goodbye: Kate Christmann
Issue date: 5/1/09 Section: Features

As I lounge in my standard issue dorm chair, contemplating this final assignment, it is the number of days I have until someone in a black gown and a funny hat hands me an empty diploma folder. It is the number of days until all my belongings must be jammed into boxes and hauled out of this tiny town for the last time.
For someone who has always looked forward to new adventures, I find myself oddly nostalgic. I will miss the clock-tower's chimes and the overly symmetrical sidewalks in the plaza. I will miss the DC's cookies and my fingers going numb on the winter morning walks to class. I will miss the late night Halo games and the creative huddle of Crusader production meetings.
I am leaving Spring Arbor much the same way I came in-with no map, no money and no idea where to begin. I came here wanting to write and; I leave here wanting to write. The difference lies-as with all lives-in my changed attitudes, my experiences and the relationships I have been blessed to gain.
That, and a very expensive little piece of paper that guarantees my free passage into the great wide world.
