University Crusader Seniors Say Goodbye: Aaron Mueller
Issue date: 5/1/09 Section: Features

I didn't know just how many sleepless nights I would spend there planning, writing and designing the campus newspaper. It was amid the stale air of the pub lab that I fell in love with journalism. And now it is both exciting and sad to say goodbye.
During my time as editor of the University Crusader, we saw the staff double in size, the paper go from a bi-weekly to a weekly, a website launch and color issues introduced. But more than any of that, I have valued the chance to talk with many of you. It has been an honor to get to know many of you the students, faculty and staff and tell your stories.
And before I sign off for the last time, I would like to thank a few people. I would like to thank Rebecca Schweitzer, who was the editor before I took over, for teaching me about editorial leadership. Thanks to Dr. Wally Metts for his patience with me and for teaching me not only in the classroom but also through his actions. Thanks to R. Michael Stinson. He has been my colleague, friend and wingman for the past two years and has made this paper look better than ever. Thank you, Megan Jackson, for being patient with me, for reading the Crusader even when you didn't want to and for being so darn beautiful. Thanks, mom and dad, for supporting me spiritually, emotionally and financially the past four years. Thanks to Bob Wheaton, Tom Perrin and Chris Iott, all former editors at the Jackson Citizen Patriot, who gave me my first shot at reporting professionally. Thank you, Elena Hines and the whole Three Rivers Commercial-News staff, for a great summer internship. Thanks to every student who has worked for the Crusader and helped make it what it is today. Many of you have become like family. Keep working hard and you will go far. And finally and most importantly, thank you to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who gives me vision and guidance.
Thanks to Michael Metts for agreeing to take over the newspaper next year. I can't think of a better man for the job. He is a strong leader and motivator and will keep the
momentum going.
Just like any institution, Spring Arbor University has its flaws, but looking back I can say that it was worth the time and money I invested. There are a lot of things I won't miss about SAU but I will definitely miss the people.
You stay classy, Spring Arbor University,
Aaron Mueller
