If you are thinking about doing some research in philosophy, religion and music, then David Burns is your guy. He has been a librarian at SAU since 1985. He graduated with a master's degree in library science at University of Denver. His graduating class was the last one in library science at U of D.

When asked why he wanted to be a librarian he said, "I like books, I like helping people, and found out that they go together, and so I could answer the same question over and over."

In a freshman English course students have to come into the library to learn how to look up articles and prove they can do APA and MLA citations. If students are doing research for Communication 300 or an education course, then Stephanie Davis is the person they want to see. Davis does collection development for the communication, sociology, social work, nursing and education departments.

Davis received her master's degree in library and information science from University of Illinois. She oversees services for the school of education on the lower level of the library where the children's collection, workroom and Microfiche is located while teaching children's literature for the School of Education.

"I became a librarian because I like to research, I like books," said Davis. "And I like to learn. I get a lot of satisfaction for helping people."

From now on when you go into the library you should think twice about the librarians who are at the reference desk. Their vast knowledge and love for information is waiting to serve everyone in the SAU community.
