A defense of the faith

Issue date: 4/3/08 Section: Faith
If our faith is to be a part of every facet of our lives, is there a distinct reason that we separate it onto its own page every week in the Crusader? As Christian writers, photographers and designers, our faith in Christ is an irreplaceable inspiration for what we do every week. Each article contains a portion of our faith. Whether we are writing to inform, entertain or challenge, God is our basis for what we do. So why the separate page?
Well, in each of our own lives, despite having a faith that encompasses every portion, don't we still dedicate certain hours purely to God and the furthering of our personal faith? This is exactly what this page is for. While we try to keep our relationship with God evident on each page of the Crusader, we distinctly set aside a "quiet page," if you will, dedicated to challenging one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. We step away from news for a moment and use it as an opportunity to share what we're learning in our personal walks as Christians. We try our best to provide wisdom and challenging thoughts.
Responding to a question "Why don't we use the space to deliver more campus news and features?" It is because we dedicate a small portion of our newspaper to Christ. Just like a quiet time in the day doesn't make the rest of our lives unChristian, the faith page doesn't make the rest of the news secular.
